CUE Haven
Event Description

CUE Haven is a former dairy farm that has been lovingly restored to native bush by the community for the community to use for education and quiet enjoyment into perpetuity. The property is owned by the CUE Haven Community Trust - a NZ registered charity, and there is no entry fee to visit the reserve. Over 4,500 volunteers have been involved in the restoration project and since 2008, they have planted over 170,000 native trees and built over 3kms of walking tracks and boardwalks. At the top of the property is a recent community collaboration -- Te Rite o Taranaki - a newly opened viewing platform which offers expansive views of the Kaipara Harbour.

It is a leisurely 40 minute, easy, self guided walk up to the top and you can explore the walking tracks to see the developing bush and some of the many native birds that have come back to the restored property. Tea/Coffee/biscuits will be provided to all visitors for free at the volunteer cottage near the car park. Feel free to bring a picnic to have on the benches at the top while enjoying the views of Kaipara Moana, the regenerating CUE Haven forest, neighboring farm land and the sculptures at Gibbs Farm. There is a limited quantity of CUE Haven native reserve honey (manuka/kanuka blend) that will be available for purchase on the Open Day. The sale of honey is a fund raiser and funds donated help with the maintenance and development of CUE Haven - your community reserve!
