Rotomate
Event Description

Rotomate "Taking the Love of the Land to You" Our Vision is to have a nimble, growth orientated, sustainable farming based business. Our goal is to be the best at taking our love of the land and sharing it with the world. We want to create a friendly relaxed work place that cares for its people, its community and its environment. We are an inter-generational Family business that has been farming at Rotomate for 80 years. The Farm was purchased by Dick and Mona Tatham in 1940 then Barrie and Jude Tatham took over the ownership 1968. With Kim Tatham and Mat Sherriff taking over ownership in 2019. We have two kids Max and Zoe.

We farm 1150 ha of rolling to steep country with a 50:50 sheep to cattle split. We run 3000 Romney ewes which lamb around 140%. 150 mainly Hereford Friesian or Angus Friesian beef cows, and we fatten around 550 Friesian bulls a year.

The farm has been extensively fenced and planted over the 80 years of ownership with many pockets of native bush. We have just completed building a new wool shed that includes a staff room, office, kitchen, toilet, a state of the art audio visual system and boasts one of the best views in the country. The plan is to use this new space for events from weddings to corporate team building weekends, to school camps and anything in between.

There will two guided farm tours from the wool shed to the airstrip. A short 5 min drive up the airstrip track which is well maintained. We recommend all wheel drive vehicles and ask that they be full as to limit the number of vehicles on the farm. The tours will leave at 11 am and 2 pm tours should take around one hour.

There will be a self guided walk to the farm pond which is suitable for picnics and relaxing. available all day

There will be a guided walk for around an hour. This will leave at 12 pm with a good general level of fitness required as there will be some steep hills.

We will have some sheep in the yards for people to look at and there may be an opportunity to run them through the drafting race.

There will be home made sausages on the BBQ for people to partake in.

The farm will be open from 10 am till 3.30 pm
