Host Handbook

Here’s a sample of the Open Farms Host Handbook. On registering an event, you’ll get it all in one document.

How to Post Your Event

We’ve streamlined the Open Farm Day experience – taking as much off your plate as we can, so you can focus on telling your story.

To get started, you need to register as an event host by clicking the orange ‘register your event’ button on the top-right corner of this page.

At the end of the process, you’ll have a log-in and password that gives you access to view and update your event description. Keep in mind that your event description doesn’t have to be perfect first time and should change as your planning progresses.

During the registration, you’ll be asked to:

Post an event description.

    1. Name your farm/event
    2. Introduce yourself and the rough event format via a short description
    3. Add your farm address – we’ll only share that with your registered visitors
    4. Set the start and end timing of your event
    5. Set a maximum number of visitors (it’s okay to start small and increase this later)
    6. Upload a few images of your farm
    7. Select which activity’s you would like to show on the day

Register your contact details and create an account

    1. Set a log-in email address and password. You’ll use this  to sign-in and view/change your event description and track/change your visitor numbers.
    2. Tell us your preferred Farmlands store – that’s where we’ll deliver some kit to you.
    3. Agree to our host requirements.

That’s it! From there your event will go through a short approval process and you’ll be able to log-in to change any details and check your visitor registrations. Now it’s time to start recruiting volunteers, planning your day and preparing to tell your story…
