Host Handbook

Everything you need to host an Open Farms event

How to Post Your Event

We’ve streamlined the Open Farm Day experience – taking as much off your plate as we can, so you can focus on telling your story.

To get started, you need to register as an event host by clicking the orange ‘register your event’ button on the top-right corner of this page.

At the end of the process, you’ll have a log-in and password that gives you access to view and print your visitor list. Keep in mind that your event description doesn’t have to be perfect first time and should change as your planning progresses (you do this by contacting your Open Farms team member).

During the registration, you’ll be asked to:

Post an event description

  1. Add your farm name and a description of your event.
  2. Add your farm address – we’ll only share this with your registered visitors.
  3. Set the format of your event – drop-in, one tour or multiple tours – and the start and end timings.
  4. Set a maximum number of visitors (this can be increased later).
  5. Upload a few images of your farm.
  6. Select which activities you would like to show on the day.

Register your contact details and create an account

  1. You’ll use this account to sign-in and track/change your visitor numbers.
  2. You can make changes to your event description by contacting the Open Farms team.
  3. Agree to our host requirements.

That’s it! From there your event will go through a short approval process and go live for bookings about a month before the event. Now it’s time to start recruiting volunteers, planning your day and preparing to tell your story…
